TEETH WHITENING
Brighten Your Smile with Modern Teeth Whitening
It’s normal for teeth to change colour over time, but that doesn’t mean you have to settle for a dull smile. At Gelinas Dental Studio, our advanced whitening treatment makes it easy to achieve a naturally bright smile in one appointment.
Why Do Teeth Discolour?
Daily habits such as drinking coffee, tea, soda, or red wine—as well as smoking—can gradually darken your teeth. Inconsistent dental care can also contribute to stubborn stains. At Gelinas Dental Studio, our goal is to restore the sparkle to your smile with a safe and non-invasive whitening process.
Preparing for Your Treatment
Before whitening, we’ll perform an oral exam and thorough cleaning to ensure your teeth and gums are in good shape. For optimal comfort, we recommend brushing with Sensodyne toothpaste for one week leading up to your appointment. This step helps reduce any short-term tooth sensitivity that may occur during or right after the treatment.
The Whitening Process
Our in-office treatment involves carefully applying a hydrogen peroxide gel to the teeth while avoiding the gums. The solution stays on for several 15-minute intervals, and is then rinsed away. Most patients see their teeth brighten by three to four shades with just three sessions, but a fourth can be added if needed to reach your desired level of whiteness.
Maintaining Your Results
After your whitening session, our team will advise which foods and drinks to avoid for a few days—particularly those that might re-stain your teeth. By following these recommendations, you’ll help preserve your smile’s new radiance for as long as possible.

One of the most effective and safest ways to whiten your teeth is by opting for a professional whitening treatment. Under the supervision of a qualified dental team, you’ll receive expert care using proven techniques and high-quality whitening agents. This approach not only delivers noticeable, lasting results but also reduces the risk of potential side effects, such as increased tooth sensitivity or gum irritation.
-
Yes! Even if your teeth have taken on a yellow hue, they can often be brightened through professional care. A thorough plaque removal by your dental team is the first step, followed by a personalized whitening treatment to restore your teeth to a whiter, healthier-looking appearance.
-
Most teeth whiteners rely on peroxide-based bleaching agents to lift stains from the enamel. Over-the-counter (OTC) products typically contain peroxide concentrations ranging from 3–20%, while professional whitening treatments can include 15–43% peroxide for more intensive, faster-acting results.
-
Generally, teeth whitening is a comfortable process. At Gelinas Dental Studio, we take care to apply the whitening solution precisely to the teeth—avoiding the gums—to prevent irritation. Additionally, we recommend using a desensitizing toothpaste like Sensodyne for a week before your appointment to minimize any potential tooth sensitivity.

A few simple steps can help keep your teeth looking their brightest:
Brush Twice Daily: Keeping up with regular brushing helps remove surface stains before they set in.
Limit Dark Beverages: Try to cut back on coffee, tea, soda, and red wine, as these can lead to discoloration over time.
Reduce Sugary Foods and Drinks: High-sugar items can contribute to plaque buildup, which makes staining more likely.
Schedule Regular Cleanings: Professional dental cleanings help remove stubborn plaque and keep your teeth in top shape.
